New Directions Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Treatment Program is a free-standing not-for-profit outpatient facility located in the heart of historic Park Slope, Brooklyn.  Licensed by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services for Chemical Dependence Outpatient Service, New Directions is a division of The Brooklyn Center for Psychotherapy, Inc. The program, consisting of individual, group and family treatment, is a minimum of six months to a maximum of two years, based on the needs of the individual.  100% continuing abstinence is the goal for every client.

The New Directions Releasee Program is a separate and discreet treatment program contracted with the New York State Division of Parole.  First contracted in 1990 to provide treatment for 75 recently paroled releasees under the Division's Relapse Prevention initiative, the census of the program has been increased over the years to its current Program census of 132 releasees.
